o'clock somewhere.  My
Hero, my best friend and buddy, John aka Dad to me and Johnny O to his
friends was one in a million. I was blessed to have a very unique and
special relationship with my Dad.Some of you may not know, Dad was a
young 18 year old man when I was born. At the age of the age of 22, he
became a single father, with a little blonde haired girl. I went
everywhere with him, including work. I was just as comfortable in the
cab of a truck, running down the piers, in the Chevron garage, as I was
in my bed. I knew I was safe when I was with my Dad. He was my
protector. Now he is my guardian Angel. You always knew where you stood,
my Dad was the most straight forward person I have ever known. What you
saw is what you got. Dad was who he was. People perceived him as a hard
ass when those who truly knew, him knew better. He was always there to
help someone out never looking for anything in return. Screw him over
and game on. He worked hard from the time he was a young teen into his
later years earning a well deserved early retirement. He could do things
with a tractor trailer that would blow your mind. He worked harder than
a man should have, an 80 hour week was the norm for Dad, making certain
his girls never wanted for anything yet did not spoil them. He built
three houses on Nestles
Lane. He took pride in his properties making certain as always there
was a place for everything and everything was in its place. Classic cars
and wolves were his passion. You could find him at local cruise nights
with his 1966 Pontiac Bonneville.
He refused to be part of any car club and remained a lone wolf,
marching to the beat of his own drum. Dad lived life to the fullest and
has a zest for life and was known for his witty sense of humor and to be
there with a joke. A little bit of the devil could be seen in those
blue eyes and in his very unique laugh. Dad always loved the outdoors
especially the ocean. When he lived in New England, he spent countless
hours cutting wood, building something or working in his garage. He loved
to take what we called 3 hour tours that would and sometimes did turn
into mini vacations. He loved old classic country music, George Jones,
Merle Haggard and his idol Johnny Cash. I could always expect a call or
message on my cell," listen to this, hee hee" We can all learn something
from Dad,be true to yourself, enjoy life and dance like no one is
watching.
